Our Consultants
The Director of LTL Training is Jack Lonergan, author, media producer and Emeritus Professor of Applied Linguistics. He has extensive experience in EU-funded projects, and his role as professor of the University of Westminster he was Director of the Ministry of Defence and University of Westminster Languages Examinations Board (MODLEB). As a former Joint Chief Inspector of the British Council Accreditation Scheme, he is further direct experience in quality control in language issues. He recently retired from the honorary post of President of the International Certificate Conference — the ICC, a Council of Europe non-governmental organisation.
Vince Kelly
Vince Kelly is an expert on language examinations whose career started as an item bank writer for the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Examinations Board. Now an international consultant, he specialises in comparisons between the stated objectives and form of existing examinations and the descriptors of the CEFR. He has analysed and reported on examinations as diverse as those from the UK Ministry of Defence Languages Examinations Board, the Swiss Secretariat Language Commission (Examinations for Community Interpreters) and PALSO, the Greek association of private schools. He is currently involved in the development of language descriptors for the European Language Portfolios for the Blind and for the Deaf.
Adam Duncan
Adam Duncan is an experienced educational scriptwriter, producer and director of television materials. He has written many scripts for BBC English by Television, and was responsible for the DVD scripts and production in the previous project, and has collaborated with other consortium members on a variety of projects including Interpreting Asia Interpreting Europe, and Building Bridges, a cross-cultural portrait of Monaco and Finland.
Barry Tomalin
Barry Tomalin is a world expert on inter-cultural education with a wide range of print and multimedia products to his credit. He will have a key role in preparing training materials for the project target groups. He has a proven track record of working with diverse communities, through organisations such as the UK Ministry of Overseas Development and the BBC World Service and has trained in over 60 countries. His many publications include The World's Business Cultures and How to Unlock Them and the multi-media programme Follow Me, produced with the Council of Europe. In 2008 he co-authored Europe at Work self study and training manuals as part of the EU Project European Intercultural Work place.
Mark Rivlin
Mark Rivlin is a public relations expert with special interests in the disadvantaged, such as the disabled and ethnic minorities. He manages a picture archive, and provides liaison for LTL Training to all aspects of promotion including web design, print design and production, and copywriting.
Ginny Abbiss
Ginny Abbiss has extensive teaching and examining experience in schools in the UK and Germany. Her role is focussed on the use of language and language control, ensuring that texts such competence descriptors are written in language accessible to the non-specialist target groups.
Richard Lonergan
Richard Lonergan is an accounts technician with responsibility for financial administration within LTL Training, bringing more than 14 years' experience at the Nationwide Trust to the position.
